Cyndi Lauper has announced her farewell tour

The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, described as her first road trip in a decade, will begin in Montreal and end in Chicago.

Cyndi Lauper is retiring from music. The "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer announced her farewell tour on Monday morning, setting out on one last national trek that will take her to arenas in 23 North American cities this fall before she ends her career as a touring artist.

Lauper did not issue any statement explaining why she decided to do a farewell tour now, though she is expected to talk about it later this week as she promotes a new documentary about her career, "Let the Canary Sing," which premieres on Paramount+ on Tuesday.

The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, described as her first road trip in a decade, will kick off October 18 in Montreal and end December 5 at Chicago's United Center.
